When I first arrived abroad, my English was poor. I nervously said "Give me a rice" at a restaurant. The waiter paused, then handed me a bowl of plain rice with a smile. That's when I realized: studying abroad, the first thing you learn isn't academic vocabulary, but how to order food!

The biggest challenge of studying abroad isn't the exams, but bargaining rent with my landlord in broken English. In the end, my landlord was so amused, he actually gave me a discount!
